A WOMAN was attacked with bleach which was squirted over her head from behind.

The 46-year-old victim needed hospital treatment after the incident in Eastleigh.

The attacker approached her from behind before the assault, which happened in an alleyway between Newtown Road and George Street.

They squirted the liquid on her head, which then ran down over her face, then ran off.

Two members of the public heard the woman's cries and came to help.

The woman was taken to Southampton General Hospital and treated for irritation to her skin and eyes - luckily there is no long lasting damage.

Police are conducting house to house enquiries and looking at CCTV, but would like to hear from anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious in the area at the time, between 9.20am and 9.30am on Monday .
