INTERNATIONAL superstar James Blunt is set to headline this summer’s Wickham Festival, the Daily Echo can reveal.

The singer-songwriter will top the bill on Thursday August 14 as part of his worldwide Moon Landing tour.

Blunt, who has sold more than 20 million albums worldwide, joins Steve Earle and the Dukes, Bellowhead and Oysterband at the popular family festival.

The Wiltshire-born soft rock/folk singer shot to fame with his hit single You are Beautiful which brought a series of Grammy nominations.

It is a major coup for the rapidly-emerging event and organiser Peter Chegwyn said: “We are thrilled to have been able to secure an artist of the calibre of James Blunt. It should be a very special night.

“He is the biggest name to play here since we moved to our new site and it shows just how far this festival has come.

James Blunt has just embarked on an 84-date worldwide tour to promote his fourth album Moon Landing. He is currently performing in the USA and then heads to Australia before returning to Europe for a series of summer shows.
