A HAMPSHIRE bus firm has announced changes to some of its routes in Southampton.

First Hampshire will alter its timetables on June 1 - axing one service and reducing others.

The service that will be lost is the R1 between Jurds Lake Way and Woolston, which was withdrawn as Southampton City Council terminated contract arrangements.

Another change will be that the Service 5 from Bassett Green to Sholing will no longer operate on Sundays and will now run hourly instead of every 30 minutes.

Service 8, which operates between Southampton city centre and Hedge End, will be diverted to serve Woolston and Peartree Avenue instead of Northam and will run every half an hour instead of 20 minutes.

Woolston residents will no longer be served by Service 12, which will now be going through Northam to get to Bitterne and then Townhill.

Meanwhile service 3 which runs between Lordshill and Thornhill will increase its routes and will run every seven to eight minutes.
