CHILDREN in the southeast as young as eight have thought about running away from home, with one in ten going through with it, a charity has warned.
Action for Children surveyed 100 eight to 16- year-olds across the southeast to find out the reasons why children run away from home, ahead of Byte Night – an event that will see hundreds of people, in various locations, spend a night sleeping out in order to raise money for youth homelessness.
The money raised by the event, will help fund two projects – Hear4me and the Youth Support Team.
Hear4me works towards preventing youth homelessness, while the Youth Support team works with 16 to 21-year-olds who are setting up their first homes after leaving care.
