SOUTHAMPTON’S retirees can learn new skills and meet likeminded people.
The city’s Makerspace, a community unit for people to create things from robots to costumes, is opening its doors from 9.30am- 12.30pm on Fridays to give the older generation of tinkerers the chance to get together for projects.
So Make It in Freemantle has an array of woodwork, metalwork and electronics tools which can be used, as well as 3D printers and space for crafts, sculpting, art work, knitting and sewing.
Retired engineer Mark Austin will be there to assist.
No prior knowledge is required.
The first visit to Southampton Makerspace at Liners Industrial Estate is free.
