A WINCHESTER charity organisation has appointed a new leader for one of its newest departments.

Tom Belshaw has joined the Winchester Area Community Action group (WACA) to head their new Community Groups Support service.

Chairman Trevor Lewis said: “We are delighted to have appointed Tom to this new role.

"He is passionate about developing the potential in teams, young people and communities.

“Tom has experience working for both local authorities and voluntary organisations with ‘at risk’ and socially excluded groups, and understands clearly what is involved in managing voluntary organisations in the face of growing demand and reducing funds in a difficult funding climate.”

Mr Belshaw will begin the role at the end of June.

“I am really excited about this new role and working with WACA to support local community groups”, said Tom.

“I have started meeting with new colleagues and I am keen to listen carefully to what groups need.”
