THOUSANDS of visitors are set to smell the scent of roses at a Test Valley attraction.

The internationally renowned National Collection of old-fashioned roses at Mottisfont Abbey is set to come into bloom this month.

The collection appears to be shaping up well after a spell of warm weather in May following wetter weather earlier in the year – which has provided the perfect growing conditions.

Head gardener David Stone explained that everything is going to plan. He said: β€œThe ramblers on the walls will come out first, but everything is on cue for spectacular displays by early to mid June.”

To show off the flowers the attraction, which is owned by the National Trust, will stay open until 8pm on fair weather days in June.
