A WILLOW arch above the River Test will be one of the landmarks of this year’s Romsey Festival.

Transition Town Romsey TTR is inviting the public to get involved in a unique art project, entitled Amplifying the Test, with sculptor Trudi Lloyd Williams.

The finished work will be suspended above a section of the river that meanders around Romsey’s War Memorial Park and will be on public display at the end of the festival and for two to three weeks afterwards.

The piece will incorporate designs created by community groups out of waste materials at workshops that will run from July 4-7 at Rum’s Eg Gallery in Bell Street.

TTR is inviting interested local groups to sign up for one of these workshops, each of which will be run by a community artist.

The group has also appealed for materials that can be used in the art workshops. These are cereal boxes, juice cartons, drinks cans, chocolate and biscuit wrappers, crisps packets, and net bags (the type used for oranges). Materials (cleaned/washed out) can be delivered to Mavis Sawdy.

To find out where to deliver materials or to take part in the workshops, email mavis.sawdy@gmail.com.

More details about the project, which is being supported by Test Valley Arts Foundation, can be found on the Transition Town Romsey website.
