FAMILIES made a splash when they took to the water for a Hampshire town’s boating extravaganza.

More than 600 people flocked to the Netley Regatta and Carnival, in Victoria Road.

Teams of up to 80 rowers competed in races ranging in distance from 440 yard sprints to four-mile hauls.

There was also a hero-themed carnival parading through the streets and an array of craft stalls, children’s games and races.

Regatta co-organiser Kevin Earl said: “It was a really enjoyable day, with rowers ranging from 11 to 60 on the water.”
