Safety measures to improve Kathleen Road, Sholing, on the agenda at meeting
SAFETY measures to improve a Southampton accident blackspot will be discussed at a meeting tonight.
Since 2011, there have been dozens of accidents on South East Road’s junction with Kathleen Road in Sholing.
Now the results will be discussed with road safety campaigners, Cllr Daniel Jeffery, residents and council officers at St Mary’s Church Hall in St Monica Road.
It comes after a 150-name residents’ petition in November last year called on the council to put new safety measures in place, such as speed bumps, a mini-roundabout, a speed camera or bollards.
Campaigners hope that the results of the meeting will finally mean success for putting these in place.
Councillor for Sholing Ward, Dan Jeffrey, said: “I think the priority change in 2011 has not done much to help things. I am hoping to see some radical traffic-calming measures to give local residents the peace of mind that the road layout is fit for purpose and they can use it safely.”
The meeting starts at 6pm and will run until 7.30pm.
