A SURVEY has revealed that people in Southampton are in the top three in the country for feeling financial strain in the summer.

The study produced by PowerofOpinions.co.uk puts the city behind Manchester and Belfast, with 74 per cent saying they feel under pressure at this time of year.

More than a quarter of people in Southampton said they worry about not having enough money in their pocket on a weekly basis, and one in ten even admitted they would break the law in order to make some extra money.

It also showed some of the cost cutting measures that people in Southampton are prepared to do to save money.

These include 73 per cent of people saying they would fill in online surveys for money, just under half said they would turn lights off and heating, and nearly a third said they would disregard use-by dates on food, and 17 per cent said they would cut their own hair.
