A HAUL of hard drugs was recovered from a Southampton hotel after police stopped a car in the city centre, the crown court heard.

Officers flagged down the vehicle, containing three people, in Cumberland Place, and discovered a room ticket for the Ibis Hotel.

The room was searched and a backpack containing wraps of heroin and crack cocaine with a street value of about £11,000 was found, as well as a small amount of cannabis.

Abdul Ibrahim, a 26-year-old, of no fixed abode, who had been in the vehicle, admitted possessing the drugs with intent to supply.

Giving him a two-year suspended sentence with six months’ supervision, Judge Peter Ralls QC said Ibrahim had pleaded guilty at the first opportunity and he had been forced to assist with the drugs because he had been put under pressure through a drug debt.
