Millers Pond nature reserve needs volunteers for a spruce-up

ONE of Hampshire’s first city nature reserves needs your help this Sunday.

Sholing Valleys, based in Station Road, Sholing, Southampton, needs volunteers to help maintain its Millers Pond nature reserve, from 10am to 3.30pm.

This can include litter picking, coppicing and tree planting or anything that needs doing to the beauty spot.

The nature reserve inspired TV presenter Chris Packham to get into nature as a boy. Tools, refreshments and meals will all be provided on the day.

The House of Lords pass a law (last week) that could see places like this sold off to private developers with out the public or council say so or even knowing its been sold.
All public open spaces are now under private investors eyes, places like Southampton common could be sold to be built on.
