EMERGENCY services were called in to rescue a teenager who had got stuck up to his calfs in mud.
The 17-year-old boy was stuck 50m out on Farlington Marsh, off Eastern Road, in Portsmouth last night.
Firefighters and the coastguard attended the scene and coastguard workers used special mud shoes to get to the boy and dug him out before he was put on a stretcher basket and winched across the mud to safety using a rope.
The boy was given a check over at the scene by paramedics but was believed to be unharmed and did not go to hospital.
Crews from Eastleigh, Fareham, Havant, Cosham and Portsmouth were all involved in the incident which unfolded around 7.40pm.
