A HAMPSHIRE marquee company is set to hit the big time after its structures were chosen for an American TV series starring Elizabeth Hurley.

Marlin Marquees was selected to provide some of the set for a royal garden party, for a series being aired on E!

Model and actress Elizabeth Hurley plays the Queen in The Royals, the channel’s first scripted drama series, based on a fictional British royal family.

Sharon Wood-Hill from Fordingbridge-based Marlin Marquees said: “We are so excited to be involved in something so immense. We felt very privileged to be involved.

“When I received the first call I thought it was going to turn out to be a waste of time – who would want Marlin Marquees to provide marquees for a hit TV series?”

Filming took place in Charlton House, London.

Ms Wood-Hill said: “It's been all hands on deck for our team who set up the marquees, which has been an intensive on-site experience.

“We have been dealing with so many departments within the production team and coordinating delivery dates, access routes, completion dates, last-minute requests and the strike date.

“The timescales were extremely tight with less than five weeks before filming was scheduled to start.”

The Royals is due to hit the screens in America next year.
