Detectives have today named the man whose body was found lying on a pavement.

Christopher William Parsons was discovered on the ground by emergency services late on Friday night and despite attempts to resuscitate him he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Following the discovery in Sandown, a 50-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder and has spent the weekend being quizzed.

This afternoon police confirmed the man has been released without charge. However, he was also questioned on suspicion of intent to supply heroin for which he has been bailed pending further enquiries.

Mr Parsons, 44, lived in Arnolds Yard, Brading, Isle of Wight.

A post-mortem examination conducted by a Home Office pathologist found his cause of death has yet to be determined.

Further toxicology tests will now be carried out, however officers say Mr Parsons does not appear to have suffered any visible injuries.
