A NEW Hampshire sports injury clinic will be one of the best in the south, according to experts.

The Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine Centre of Excellence, aka Excel, has opened at the Nuffield Health Wessex Hospital in Chandler’s Ford.

It is part of an £8m refurbishment at the hospital and will be manned by a team of more than 30 highly-skilled consultants using hi-tech equipment, including MRI and CT scanners, a hydrotherapy pool and a new rehabilitation sports medicine gym.

The centre was opened by leading hand, wrist and elbow specialist Prof David Warwick, who said this was a unique facility for the south.

He said: “Excel will be the only centre south of London with these facilities which can look after its patients from the time they walk through the door until they’re completely recovered.

“The centre is welcoming and friendly, putting patients at ease and making their experience a pleasant one.”

Wessex Hospital director Peter Howgrave-Graham added: “We are delighted with the new centre and the wide ranging facilities that we have here.”

To celebrate the launch, Excel is offering free 15-minute one-on-one sessions with consultants during July, August and September.
