POLICE are investigating after a man was left with a stab wound following a late-night assault.

Officers cordoned off part of Dale Road at the junction of Norham Road following an incident last night.

Daily Echo:

Police have confirmed an assault took placein the area shortly after 10.30pm.

A 50-year-old man from Southampton is currently in hospital being treated for serious but not life threatening injuries.

The victim was left with a potential stab wound but it is unknown how this was caused or whether any weapons were used.

Two men, aged 18 and 40, from the Southampton area were arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

They are being questioned by police.

A police spokesman said it is an isolated incident and those involved are known to one another.

Around dozen police investigation markers can be seen on the pavement.

Police have been carrying out door-to-door enquiries in the immediate vicinity this morning.

Neighbour Patience Stokes, 100, said: "I could not hear what they were saying - it was just a noise.

"There was nothing else, it was all over in ten minutes.

"When the police came it was about 10.15pm. I was just at the top of the stairs and I couldn't see who it was. I thought it was just lads messing about.

"They were upsetting a dog and shouting at people.

"The police came this morning and spoke to me. I think it's a one-off incident and I'm not worried."

Another neighbour said: "I came back this morning at about 8.30am and it was taped off.

"Police were there. It's so sad because it's such a quiet area."

Anyone who witnessed the incident, or who has any information, should contact DC Aimee Schock at Shirley CID on 101.

Do you not have thinking capacity?? Here is just one theory:...Maybe the victim was found injured but won't say how / may not be well enough to say how and so based on the injury type it is suspected to be a stab wound.

The line after that is what gets me...It is unknown whether a weapon was used?
If there is a stab wound it was hardly done by hand was it, unless its a minor scratch!
