Medical team at Southampton General Hospital are "as relieved" as Hampshire Police that Ashya has been found.

11:43pm

Daily Echo:

When asked if he was surprised about how long it took to find a family of that size, he said: "Experience tells me when people don't want to be found it can take some time. I'm just thankful that we have found them. Our primary aim all along was to find Ashya, make sure he got the medical care he needs and we are just thankful we have been able to do that."

11:41pm

He said it could be done reasonably quickly but that in his experience these things take some time.

11:40pm

When asked if Ashya's parents would be extradited he said that officers will tomorrow, once in Spain, start to go through the "proper process" of how to bring them back to the UK.

11:38pm

Speaking about the arrest of Ashya's parents, he said: "His parents were arrested utilising the European arrest warrant that we had obtained. I said earlier that was obtained on the grounds of neglect. Obviously, we now need to speak to those parents at the appropiate time to determine exactly what was the motivation behind them taking Ashya."

11:32pm

When asked about when Ashya would be coming home, he added: "It's too soon to say when Ashya will come home. That will depend on his medical condition. That really is a matter for the doctors, but rest assured nobody is going to do anything that would endanger his medical condition, so it really depends on howwell he is but that really is a matter for the doctors."

11:30pm

He added: "I would also like to take thee opporunity to thank all those members of the public who have assisted us with our inquiries and spread the word, have kept this in the public eye, because that has been a massive help raising awareness and helping us to get to the point where we are now and also quite clearly our colleagues in the Spanish police and indeed the French police before that."

11:28pm

He went on to say: "These inveatigations are never easy when multiple jurisdictions are involved. They have been working with Frenach police, they Spainish police and thankfully we have had the right outcome this evening."

11:27pm

He added: "Tonight we are thankful that Ashya has been recovered and I  would just take this opportunity to pass on my thanks firstand foremost tto the Major Investigation Team from Hampshire Constabulary, who have worked tirelessly since Ashya was reported missing, round the clock. They have done a fantastic job."

11:20pm

Daily Echo:

Assistant Chief Constable Shead said: "There are no winners in this situation. I've said all along this must be terribly distressting for Ashya's family and I stand by that now. But we are thankful that we have found Ashya. The number one aim in this investigation has been to ensure the child gets the welfare he needs."

11:18pm

Ashya's parents have been arrested and are being questioned by Spanish police.

11:17pm

Ashya's doctors from Southampton General Hospital are now liaising with the hospital in Velez, Malaga.

11:17pm

Ashya's brothers and sisters were not in the vehicle but they have been found in a hotel ten miles away.

11:16pm

Police in Malaga were on patrol, identified the details from the information circulated by police and stopped the vehicle.

11:16pm

Police will speak to his parents at an "appropiate time" to establish their motivation behind taking Ashya from Southampton General Hospital.

11:15pm

It is unclear when Ashya will come home - that will depend on his medical condition.

11:14pm

Hampshire Police have contacted Southampton General Hospital so that Ashya's medical needs are sent to the hospital in Malaga where he is currently.

11:14pm

Officers from Hampshire Police will be travelling to Spain tomorrow morning to assist with the investigation.

11:13pm

He said that there are "no wwinners" in this and that they have achieved their number one aim of finding Ashya.

11:13pm

He was showing no signs of distress but exact details of his  condition are unknown, according to Assistant Chief Constable Shead.

11:12pm

Just before 9pm UK time Spanish police found Ashya. They stopped the family's vehicle and in the car was Ashya and his parents.

11:09pm

Spanish Police are currently questionning Ashya's parents.

11:08pm

It is understood that Ashya King is in the main children's hospital in Malaga.

11:07pm

Although Assistant Chief Constable Shead said the warrant was based around neglect, he added: "That does not necessarily mean they would be charged with that offence. It purely gives us the power to arrest and then we'll be able to speak to them."

11:05pm

Police this afternoon obtained a European Arrest warrant for the parents of Ashya. The warrant had been obtained on the grounds of neglect accordings to Assistant Chief Constable Chris Shead, who added that using iit would be a last resort.

11:04pm

Ashya King was being treated at Southampton General Hospital when his parents took him on Thursday afternoon. They boarded a Brittany Ferries sailing to Cherbourg in France.

11:01pm

Ashya is understood to be in hospital in Malaga with his condition unknown.

So basically it's abuse of police power. Disgusting.

Why did nobody mention the YouTube video at the police press conference. The video explains why the boy was taken and what the family want. Nobody also mentioned that the boy was being fed and the family know how to work the machine.

Because, as normal, the media take a story...blow it out of all proportion and twist the facts.
