IT is a Christmas lights spectacular that is helping to spread festive spirit across Southampton.

Dad-of-three Daniel Buckingham has adorned his home in Sholing with 16,000 lights and now his neighbours have joined in too.

The 38-year-old spent two months getting his home ready for the lights extravaganza, which now spreads across four homes in Margham Avenue.

This year he has made some changes to the lights show, which will run until December 27 on a 45-minute loop and includes 15 festive songs, including some from Disney film Frozen.

He has also added two Santa Claus props, a snowman, reindeer and penguins.

The work to create the show has been painstaking, with one song sequence taking at least 20 hours.

Mr Buckingham, said: “I’m really pleased with it, I have had a great reaction this year and the songs from Frozen have gone down really well and I can hear kids singing them outside.

“The neighbours have been as good as gold about it and they say that the music is not too loud and the road is not too busy.”

The first night of the Christmas lights show raised £70 in aid of cerebral palsy sufferer Lewis Tupper, who was devastated when vandals removed Christmas lights from his home.

As reported by the Daily Echo, the six-year-old from Botley Road, was devastated when vandals hacked down rope Christmas lights on his home and even from his wheelchair ramp. The lights are also raising funds for the Piam Brown ward at Southampton General Hospital, which cares for children fighting cancer.
