LUKE Shaw and his mum Joanna have taken to Twitter to thank fans for all their good luck messages ahead of his historic England debut last night.

The Saints left back tweeted to his 155,000 followers: “Thankyou everyone for your messages, a very proud moment for me, still can't believe it!”

Joanna posted: “Today has been one of the proudest days ever for our family, thank you so much to everyone who has sent us such lovely messages.”

Shaw’s Saints colleague, Harrison Reed, also used the social networking site last night.

After coming on as a second half sub to help England under-19s beat Turkey in Chester, he tweeted: “Great 3-0 win. Buzzing to have made my England u19s debut tonight!!?”

Left back Matt Targett started for the under-19s last night, and he tweeted: “Great 3-0 win against turkey! Delighted to get my second cap!! Great experience!! Back to Southampton now.”
