HYTHE & Dibden had to settle for a 2-2 Sydenhams One draw at Fleet Spurs after surrendering a two-goal lead in the last 15 minutes.

Nathan Renyard opened the scoring for the Watersiders after Sean Stone’s close-range effort had come back off the crossbar with 18 minutes gone.

Stone himself doubled Hythe’s lead just before the interval after Sam McCarthy had played him through.

Hythe should have made it three when Stone broke through on goal again, but this time he missed the target.

Spurs then missed an even better chance when Sam Knowles’ penalty was superbly saved by Jon Page diving to his right.

But a succession of corners followed and Knowles eventually converted one with a header before Dan Dansie levelled for Spurs in stoppage time.

Hythe, now fifth, will look to bounce back tonight at home to Hayling United.
