Hampshire’s Dani King lost out to Wiggle-Honda teammate Laura Trott in a sprint finish for the British Cycling National Championships road race title in Abergavenny.
Lizzie Armitstead was in front by 15 seconds at one point and led with just 5km left of the 101km race, but the defending champion was caught by London 2012 Olympic gold medallists King and Trott on the final lap – the latter prevailing by just a fraction of a second in a race for the line.
