DAN Fitchett has become the eighth player to leave financially wounded Salisbury City, joining last season’s skipper Glenn Wilson at Aldershot Town.

The 23-year-old, who fired 16 times for Whites in Conference Premier under departing boss Mikey Harris, has penned a deal with the club he played for as a youth.

Fitchett, an England C international, served at the Ray Mac for almost three seasons after signing from Wycombe Wanderers.

“Aldershot is my local club and I can't wait to get started," he said. "Town ticked all the boxes for me - the club is really professional, the facilities are great and it's still near enough a Football League set-up.

“As a striker goals are a key part of my game but I think I bring a few different things too: I'm quick, direct and live on the last shoulder of the defenders and I can also play the ball to the feet.

“I've done well in the past two seasons but I think I can do better.”

The striker leaves the Whites at a time of financial turmoil, with the club being relegated to Conference South from Conference Premier after failing to pay players’ wages and secure a bond of £50,000.

If the two payments aren’t resolved by Friday (July 4) at 5pm, they face being expelled from the Conference altogether.
