The border bogy struck again in Dundee HSFP's quest for glory in the BT Premier Two championship. Up to Saturday they had lost only one match - at Netherdale against Gala, but Selkirk not only won at Philiphhaugh but came back after trailing 13-17 down at half-time. They had a try by Craig Hunter and a conversion and two penalties from Mike Rutherford. Dundee had tries from Doug Gray and Mike Kerr with Jon Petty converting both and adding a penalty. Hunter struck again in the second half, Rutherford converted then added three further penalties to bring his tally to 19 while Dundee could add only a further Petty penalty and a Kerr drop goal and had to settle for a losing bonus.
Gala narrowed the gap at the top by four points when they collected a win bonus against Grangemouth after an eight-try 49-8 triumph.
A 13-8 half time lead in Biggar's favour vanished at Hartreemill as Jed turned the tables in the second half to 21-18, thus seriously denting the home side's promotion prospects.
Coming back from 5-3 down at half-time, Haddington edged closer to the top three with a 13-10 win over Stewart's-Melville at Inverleith.
The return of Carl McWilliam for only his second game of the season was a big factor in Murrayfield Wanderer's 12-6 win over Kirkcaldy at Beveridge Park.
Kicking dominated the match at Burnbrae in Kelso's 19-3 win over stragglers West of Scotland. Nicky Craig had a penalty for the home side with Murray Fleming and Ngapaku Manungapaku sharing four Kelso penalties.Matthew Foxcrof scored the only try.
In Premier Div 3, Berwick were leading Musselburgh 5-0 on the verge of half-time when the game was stopped for a serous injury to Berwick wing Oliver Henderson. The youngster was airlifted to Wansbeck hospital. He was later released having being diagnosed with severe bruising in the shoulder and neck area. There was not enough light left to finish the game.
They don't come any more perverse than East Kilbride who, having dropped points in the daftest games, come out and beat league leaders Edinburgh Accies 11-6 at Torrance House.
That defeat for Accies allows Dunfermline to join them level on points at the top. The McKane Park outfit won 38-10 against RHC.
Hillhead-Jordanhill remain promotion challengers after demolishing Annan 53-0 at Hughenden. The other Glasgow sides had mixed fortunes. Cartha-Queens Park went down 44-15 to Preston Lodge, while along the road at Tranent, Cambuslang came back from 14-12 down at half-time to beat Ross high 22-14.
