VICTOR Wanyama hailed Saints’ “fantastic” first away win of the Premier League season at Chelsea.

The Kenyan midfielder was delighted as Steven Davis, Sadio Mane and Graziano Pelle scored to complete a famous victory at Stamford Bridge – their first since 2002.

“Yes, it’s a tough place to come and it was an important win,” Wanyama said. “It was our first away win, so we’re very happy.”

Willian put Chelsea ahead before ten minutes had gone, but Saints demonstrated great spirit to further pile the misery on Blues boss Jose Mourinho, who is coming under increasing pressure after a poor start to the campaign.

The champions are now down in 16th while Saints are riding high after back-to-back victories.

“We’re very pleased,” the 24-year-old said. “Playing against the champions is not easy and it has been a tough game, but we’re happy with the performance today.

“We really worked hard and we’re leaving with the maximum points, so we’re really happy.”

Wanyama was, however, not going to be drawn on who he thought was Saints’ man of the match.

“A lot of the players today, they did well,” he said. “Sadio (Mane), Graziano (Pelle), Davo (Steven Davis) today.

“Everybody was fantastic, so it was a little bit close (as to who was the best player on the pitch for Saints).”

Wanyama, though, did pick out Mane, who has now scored four goals in three games for Saints, for praise.

“Sadio’s a good player, he’s done well for us and everyday’s he’s learning,” he said. “He was fantastic today.”
