CHANDLER’S Ford Central captain Terry Azor celebrated his first England billiards team call up in style.

Azor, pictured helped CFC move to the top of the Southampton Billiards League after a 5-1 victory against previous leaders Park Gate RBL.

CFC’s Daniel Zagaroli made runs of 38, 52, 30, 32, 33 and 41 unfinished to stun Chris Pullen.

Then Chandler’s Graham Hollick continued his rich vein of form by overcoming Steve Boterhoek by eight points.

The man of the moment would not be denied in the third pairing as Azor beat Paul Tavender by 15 points, thanks in part to two breaks of 40.

CFC’s Trevor Thorn then pipped Ian Finch by six points, making a 46 break in the process.

In the last pairing, Park Gate’s number one Paul Lawrence was his side’s saviour as he beat Dave White by 20 points.

Shirley Cons had a fine 3-3 draw against visitors Curdridge RBL, and that was after winning only two tables.

It started badly for Cons with Curdridge’s Gwen Gamblin beating Keith Castles by only four points, but Mike Thatcher gained parity with a 23-point win over Curdridge’s Nick Alford.

Curdridge’s Derek Fry beat Sid Hunt by only six points to give his side a 2-0 lead.

Shirley’s Chris Holland decisively returned to form with a 63-point victory over Clive Gamblin, to all but seal the team aggregate points total.

Curdridge took the last pairing of Rob Smith against Malcolm Willis by only four points for three tables, but lost the aggregate 986-914.

Churchill’s Eastleigh handed out a stunning 5-1 thrashing to visitors Totton Rec.

Peter Green beat Mike Kunzi by 49 points, Simon Green winning by 39 points against Lee Fitzpatrick.

Mike Henstredge won by 25 points against Brian Cannons, and Dave Baker (34 break) by a huge score of 150 points against Steve Allen.

Totton’s Tony Aldridge (31 break) saved the whitewash blushes by beating Derek Foster by 33 points.
