WHITE MEL. D September 25th, 1942 -
August 2nd, 2008 Mel, the second of four sons, was born
in England,
September 25th, 1942, to Elsie and Joe White. He attended Shirley Warren Secondary School before starting a Tool and Die Apprenticeship at
A. C. Delco. He was an excellent scholar and natural athlete. He met his wife Karen in 1962 on a Steamboat Shuffle in Southampton and they were married in 1964. As newlyweds they emigrated to Seattle in 1965 where Mel worked as an engineer for Boeing. Along with his family, Mel moved
to Palo Alto, California, where he earned his M.B.A. from Stanford University. After a wonderful experience, they returned to their family home in Redmond and Mel continued his work with Data I/O. After a semi retirement, Mel worked for
Walter Kistler at Kistler-Morse. With his entreprenurial spirit, he led a very successful business career. One of his contributions was creating a multi-million dollar manufacturing company. As well as a lot of time spent with family, Mel travelled all over playing Golf. He played many of the Scottish and Irish courses as well as many here on the west coast. Mel had recently introduced his grandson Drew to his beloved game of golf watching him take
his first lesson. While Mel was a world traveller, his favourite vacation was spending time annually in Blacke Butte, Oregon, with his family. Mel was a family man, loyal friend, wonderful story-teller, generous with loved ones, an avid golfer, had a great sense of humour and lived life to the fullest. He had a brilliant mind and was considered larger than life by those
who knew him. Mel is survived by his loving family; his wife of forty-three years Karen, daughters Paula Bordenet (Matt) and Michelle Rexroat (Craig) and grandchildren Drew and Madeleine Bordenet who were the joy of his life. ---------- On August 2nd, 2008, after 19 months, Mel lost his bravely fought battle with brain cancer. ---------- There will be a Memorial Service on August 23rd, 2008.

WAREHAM ANNIE My waking thoughts are all of you.
You're with me
all the time.
The things you say, the things you do
all crowd into
my mind. Sometimes I feel
I can't go on.
When everything seems wrong,
I close my eyes and talk to you.
You tell me
to be strong. Silent as a tear drop,
memories come
and go.
leaving empty spaces in hearts that loved you so. As life goes on without you,
a week turns
into years,
they hold a
thousand memories
and a million
silent tears. Memories are the nicest things.
They last from
day to day.
They can't get lost.
They don't wear out
and they can't be taken away, Because there's a bridge of memories
from here to
Heaven above,
it keeps you very
near to us,
it's called the
bridge of love. ----- Much loved Mum,
Nan and Little Nan of Nigel, Maureen, Paul, Joseph, Nadia, Yasmin, Lisa, Peter, Emma, Charlotte, Nicole
