THREE Hampshire companies are set for fast-track success in India after being awarded a place on a sought-after executive training programme.

HS Butyl Ltd from Lymington, Mercator Media from Fareham and Roke Manor Research in Romsey have a place on the India Marketing Scholarship Programme held in Mumbai.

Organised by UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) London, the programme is created to help companies fast track their way into India.

Parveen Thornhill, international trade director at UKTI London, said: “India is a vast and diverse country with a rapidly expanding consumer class and, while offering a wealth of trading opportunities, it also presents a unique marketing challenge for overseas companies.

“The scholarship programme helps participants identify issues and actions to be taken and has helped past participants develop trading relationships to secure business in India.

“With trade opportunities stretching to the emerging cities of Nagpur, Ahmedabad, Chandigarh, Pune and Jaipur.

companies can build longterm relationships in the next generation cities as well.”

The programme starting on Monday will be hosted by one of India’s leading management institutes the S P Jain Institute of Management and Research in Mumbai, one of the best business schools in Asia.

It coincides with two other business and university delegations in India at the same time.

The Hampshire businesses have already met up with companies from all three delegations to take part in a master class on business opportunities in India as part of UKTI’s national Export Week.
