A WINCHESTER children’s charity has reeled in a whopping cheque.
A team effort saw The Meon Valley Lions club, the Ford Sea Angling Club and the Transport and General Workers Union raise £1,500 for Naomi House and Jack’s Place at Sutton Scotney.
Following a fishing competition in January, they presented a cheque to a representative of the charity, Sarah Hudson, at the prize giving night on March 9.
Now in its 38th year, the Meon Valley Lions have been involved with organising the event since 1996, having raised £35,000 in total.
Ian Adams, of the Meon Valley Lions, said: “Everybody had a great time. With all the changes going on at Ford in Southampton, it’s great that the club has really stuck together, like they always have done, and we’ve been able to raise this money.
“We’re just pleased to support such an important local charity.”
