I AM becoming increasingly disgruntled with the Conservative Party Political Broadcast that is Margaret Thatcher’s funeral.

Why did David Cameron see fit to recall Parliament a week early, and at what cost?

Why is she having a state funeral in all but name and at what cost?

I was under the impression this country had no money!

She was our first and only female Prime Minister and that’s about the only fact that everyone agrees on.

She divided a nation in office and is doing the same in death and for the Conservative Party to assume we all share their glorified views is entirely wrong.

Don’t forget it was her own party that shooed her out of office, not the electorate and it’s completely hypocritical to now say what a wonderful leader she was, conveniently rewriting history.

I was there in the 80s and remember Thatcherism all too well. Many of the things that I consider wrong with the country today, I can directly link to her: Banking deregulation, introduction of MPs’ expenses, selling off social housing and privitisation of our utilities to name but a few.

It is not disrespectful to choose not to worship this former PM, who happened to be a woman.

To many she was a hero but to many more she was a tyrant. We shouldn’t be made to forget that.
