CHRIS Barber makes a rare club appearance alongside Wally Fawkes for a charity performance in Basingstoke next month.
He has led a band for 60 years, whilst Wally came to prominence in Humphrey Littleton's first band in 1948, although he had already worked for some years in George Webb's Dixielanders.
It is no exaggeration to say that these two legends are playing as well as ever, making this performance, in Basingstoke Irish Centre on Thursday, May 30, a date for the diary.
Support comes from Chris' old band members Johnny McCallum and Vic Pitt, together with the drummer from Acker Bilk's band, Ritchie Bryant.
Tickets and further information are available from 0794 204 0779 or email blackbird@waitrose.com.
