ACS Cobham International School will welcome 15 North American higher education institutions for an event unique in Surrey this year.

More than 500 students will attend the North American College and University Fair at the Portsmouth Road school on May 16.

Highly selective institutions, including Hamilton College, Kenyon College and Reed College, will be talking about studying in the US and Canada, as well as the benefits of liberal arts education.

Students will be able to meet tutors to find out how applications are evaluated and find out more about residential and extra-curricular opportunities.

Joan Liu, college counsellor at ACS Cobham, said: “This fair is a rare opportunity for local students to learn about their higher education options in North America and to understand what qualifications enable them to apply to study in the US and Canada.

“As a school known for its expertise in North American admissions, we encourage students in the local area to come and learn more.

“This is also a great opportunity for students, parents and teachers to attend information sessions on the difference between the US and UK personal statement, financial aid and bursaries, recruited student-athletes, and admissions tests."

The fair is the first of its kind to be held in Surrey and is the finale of a tour which takes in the Institut Le Rosey and Zurich International School in Switzerland and the International School of Brussels before arriving in Cobham.
