Children at Townsend Barn Nursery talked about dogs with Devizes MP Claire Perry when she visited last Friday.
Mrs Perry brought in her labrador dog, Zin Zan, and chatted with the pupils and staff.
Caroline Nichols, who owns the nursery in Poulshot, said: “The children absolutely loved Claire’s dog and they talked about dogs and their favourite children’s book characters.
“She had a fantastic time and she was brilliant with the children. She stayed for an hour and I talked to her about the Government’s idea on lowering the ratio of staff to children in nurseries.
“I told her that we were not going to do that and we are keeping the number as it is, because we feel that is safe.”
The nursery, which has 80 children, opened in January 2012.
