A HAMPSHIRE technology firm has scooped a national accolade at the Railway Industry Innovation Awards.

Southampton–based start-up technology company Perpetuum was recognised for its innovative partnership with the engineering team at Southeastern.

They developed a new technology that monitors wear to train parts remotely and helps prevent damage that can cause cancellations to services, revolutionising train maintenance.

The award, for excellence in engineering and safety, was presented to the two companies by Baroness Kramer, minister of state for transport, recognising their joint work to develop a new system.
