A WINCHESTER man has revolutionised the art of complaining by developing a specially made app.

James Walker, founder and chief executive of Resolving Ltd, became so incensed after a dispute with his energy supplier he designed an app to make complaining much simpler.

The app, called resolver, is free on some smartphones and tablets and will soon become available on Android too.

Its development has seen the company’s value rocket from £50,000 to £5m in the two years since it was founded.

“We are improving the concept of complaints,” Mr Walker said. “Around 40 per cent of people don’t complain because they think it’s too hard but we’ve just made it easy.”

The app contains phone numbers and legal advice based on individual companies ranging from energy suppliers to insurance companies and even holiday companies. It logs complaints, has ready-to-use templates, records your phone calls with customer service departments and even reminds you when to send another badgering email working to individual service level agreements.

“We have around 1,500 companies in the system at the moment,” Mr Walker added. “It will allow you to email customer services, then the head of customer services, then the managing director and eventually the ombudsman.”
