HE may have cut locks for more than 40 years, but Winchester’s celebrity stylist is still in fashion after scooping a national award for hairdresser of the year.

Guy Kremer, who runs a luxury salon in Parchment Street, was crowned British Hairdresser of the Year by the Fellowship for British Hairdressing at a glitzy ceremony on Monday.

He said he was shocked and delighted to win for only the second time in his 41-year career.

“I never expected to win the biggest award,” he said. “I won it for the first time 20 years ago, and there have been two decades of young, talented hairdressers rising through the industry since then.

“I feel so honoured to have won over such talented competition – it feels reviving and rejuvenating.”

Presenting the award, Fellowship president Errol Douglas said: “Guy is a French man with a British heritage and international reputation, and his unmistakable style of hairdressing is distinctive, elegant and chic.

“In the professional arena, his renowned long hair skills and classic techniques with contemporary flair are impressing and inspiring hairdressers around the world.”

Mr Kremer didn’t have long to celebrate his victory, however, rushing from the awards after-party to style the hair of Hollywood actress Laura Haddock.
