A GROUP of solicitors raised nearly £6,000 for wards and departments at Southampton General Hospital and Princess Anne Hospital.

Following the success of last year’s Write Your Will Week, Southampton Hospital Charity held a month-long fundraiser aimed at giving supporters the opportunity to have their will professionally written or updated.

Fifteen solicitors from the Southampton area supported the initiative and fundraising officer Jacqui Cammish said the event exceeded expectations.

She said: “From the generosity of the solicitors giving their time for free to the generosity of our supporters in donating almost £6,000, we are absolutely thrilled.”

The funds will be used to buy new TVs for patients, and medicine for older people at the General.

Ward manager Katie Boot said: “The TVs will make all the difference for our patients by helping to alleviate boredom and make the environment more of a home from home for them.”
