COMPLETION of an £18m leisure complex has been delayed by months due to bad weather.
Work on the leisure extension to the Whiteley Shopping Centre, which includes a nine-screen Cineworld cinema, has suffered setbacks and it will now open in autumn this year rather than the summer as originally planned. When open it will create 180 new jobs.
The centre will also include Five Guys, Nando’s, PizzaExpress and Coast to Coast and Asian dining restaurant Dim T has also recently signed for its second restaurant outside of London.
Darren Gooding, operations manager for Whiteley Shopping Centre, said: “Whiteley’s £18m leisure extension will now open in autumn 2015 due to construction delays.
“Whiteley’s priority is to deliver a scheme of a standard that shoppers expect and deserve.
“Work is continuing apace on the extension.”
