AN ECO-FRIENDLY beauty brand is set to open in Southampton bringing almost 20 new jobs to the city.

Lush Fresh Handmade Cosmetics will be opening a new store in Westquay in mid July, although the exact date is yet to be confirmed.

The store plans to be recruiting 18 new members of staff – 3 of which are management, and the other 15 will be shop floor positions.

The chain opened its first Southampton branch in East Bargate Street in 2000.

General manager at Westquay, Andy Collyer said: “We are delighted to be at the forefront of Lush’s expansion plans within Southampton, welcoming them to our strong repertoire of stores here at Westquay.

“We always try to listen to our customers’ needs, and welcoming Lush will continue our ever growing partnerships with the natural cosmetics retail industry.”

Famous for their innovative products such as fizzy bath bombs, shower jellies and shampoo bars, the new Lush store also plans to sell its full range of all natural, hand-made and 100 per cent vegetarian beauty products, including vibrant and aromatic cosmetics, creams, gels, scrubs, moisturisers and more.

The brand’s buyers travel worldwide, personally visiting suppliers to trace the ingredients, to meet the growers and producers, and ensure care for the environment and fair conditions for workers.

The store will be opened in the 270 square metre unit next to River Island and Superdry on the shopping centre’s third tier.
