SOUTHAMPTON Shipowners Association annual summer ball for the port and business community raised more than £3,000 for two good causes through a prize raffle.
Through the generosity of the local port community, including ABP Southampton who donated an Apple iPad, £3,500 was raised on the night for the Southampton Sea Cadets and and young Zoe Donneaud, who suffers from a rare medical condition.
The Sea Cadets can accommodate 40 cadets in their Vespasian Road site but have a long waiting list of youngsters keen to join, and are raising funds to expand their unit premises.
The Sea Cadets are one of the Mayor of Southampton’s chosen charities for 2017.
Six-year-old Zoe is the daughter of a local French couple who live and work in Southampton.
She is currently battling brain cancer and her parents are raising money to fund specialist treatment which she is currently receiving at a clinic in Mexico.
