A NEW £1 million jewellery shop has opened its doors at Southampton's Westquay shopping centre.

Laings is located in a new "luxury corner" of the centre on the lower ground floor close to Apple, Russell & Bromley, John Lewis and Cath Kidston.

In addition to Laings' diamond and bespoke jewellery collections the shop stocks luxury watch brands including Rolex, Patek Philippe and IWC Schaffhausen.

Commenting on the official launch of the new showroom, Joe Walsh, CEO of Laings, said: "“This store opening is an exciting move for our company and follows the recent news that we have re-merged the Laing family businesses.

“We are entering a new era with a national presence for LAINGS with seven luxury stores across the UK."

Scottish-based Laings recently took over Parkhouse jewellers which had been trading in one form or another on the city's High Street for more than 200 years.

Prior to the opening of the new Southampton store Michael Laing OBE announced his retirement and sold the business to Laing Glasgow Holdings Ltd and Subs, (Laings of Glasgow) which is run by his niece Wendy Walsh and her husband Joe.
