A SOUTHAMPTON taxi firm has carried home a national award for its scheme developed to keep student passengers safe.

Radio Taxis won the Silver Award in the Marketing Award category of the Professional Driver QSi Awards.

The firm as honoured for its “safely home” scheme for students. Student passengers pay a £10 deposit, so if they lose their phone or wallet they can still get home safely.

Radio Taxis also partners with local businesses and offers client discounts via a loyalty card scheme.

Professional Driver editor Mark Bursa said: “Sometimes an outstanding idea leaps out of the entry – and that’s the case with our Silver award winner."

The awards were open to every chauffeur and private hire company in the UK, are designed to recognise operators and individuals that demonstrate excellent standards of Quality, Service and Innovation.

Gold, Silver and Bronze awards were presented in 10 categories at a ceremony held at the Effingham Park Hotel, near Gatwick Airport.
