TENNIS fans enjoying last night’s Wimbledon clash between Andy Murray and Stanislas Wawrinka, might have missed the ace service of a Southampton company.
The championship at the world famous All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club is the largest single sporting catering operation in Europe and therefore a major event for Wise Catering.
Based in new premises on the Willments Industrial Estate on the banks of the River Itchen the firm handles well over 100 corporate hospitality lunches a day throughout the championship.
It’s part of a staggering amount of food and drink consumed, including 100,000 pints of beer, 150,000 glasses of Pimms, 17,000 bottles of Champagne, 28,000 kilos of English strawberries and 7,000 litres of dairy cream.
Wise managing director Chris Treacher said: “Wise Catering has been involved with the event for the past 20 years and it forms part of our sporting portfolio which includes the PSP Southampton Boat show, the Rose Bowl, Newbury racecourse and Twickenham.”
