Sponsor helping Basingstoke Town to get message across

SIMPLY Bluetooth is helping to get Basingstoke Town Football Club’s messages across to its fans at the Camrose.

The Chineham Business Park-based outfit has supplied the club with a bluetooth proximity marketing device, allowing Town to transmit messages directly to fans’ mobile phones while at the ground in Western Way, South Ham.

Simply Bluetooth director David Buckley said: “Bluetooth messaging is very similar to text messag¬ ing but without the associated costs or need for the recipient’s cell phone number. It does not even require a mobile phone signal to be present in order to work! “Once a Simply Bluetooth unit is acquired, messages are free to send and free to receive – giving you a lifetime of cost-effective marketing.

“Messages can be changed within minutes using programs such as Photoshop and adverts, movies and music can all be sent via one of Simply Bluetooth’s units.”

He said that this form of marketing has huge potential given that 90 per cent of the UK population own mobile phones.

He said research shows that 78 per cent of people are willing to receive messages via bluetooth, which is now automatically active on most handsets.

The company is also a sponsor of the football club’s strip for the 2010/2011 season.

Keen to find highly cost-effective ways to promote the club and generate further revenue, Town’s general manager Dave Partridge said: “Not only does Simply Bluetooth offer a highly cost effective, long-term marketing medium, it’s also eco-friendly as unlike traditional leaflets and flyers, there is no paper involved.

“What’s more the unit is totally portable and can be used 24/7, allowing us to transmit bluetooth messages at sites other than the football ground.”

Town’s commercial manager John Gaston has high hopes for the marketing device.

He said “We’re currently using the Simply Bluetooth unit to deliver messages to fans which promote clubhouse membership, inform them of fixtures and tell them about our new astroturf pitches which are available for hire.

“We’re also planning on using bluetooth to advertise for our commercial partners and sponsors as well as any other busi¬ nesses who would like to advertise at the ground.”

Already a sponsor of Basingstoke golf pro Stuart Archibald, Simply Bluetooth is keen to expand its support for local sport.

Mr Buckley said: “We’re always looking for new opportunities to sponsor local sports teams and individuals and would be delighted to hear from anyone who is interested in receiving our support.

“We are also looking to recruit highly motivated and reliable people for our rapidly expanding team and would encourage anyone with a background in sales, technology or marketing to email their CV to recruitment@simply bluetooth.co.uk.”
