The man behind the growing success of a Winchester visitor attraction is set to leave, to take up a new position in Bristol.
Phil Winfield, who has been director of Intech Science Centre and Planetarium for nine years, will take up a role as chief executive for At-Bristol, a similar science centre on a larger scale, at the beginning of April.
Since his arrival at Intech in 2002, after its move to the current Morn Hill site, visitor numbers have gone from 57,000 people a year to 120,000 and the centre has introduced the largest capacity planetarium in the country.
Mr Winfield said: “It's an opportunity for me to take on a bigger challenge and more responsibility and it's an exciting challenge.
“During my time at Intech we have managed to grow visitor numbers by over 100 per cent and stabilise the financial position.”
