A HAMPSHIRE based roofing contractor is set to create 30 new jobs after securing a multimillion-dollar contract for the redevelopment of one of the largest airports in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Lakesmere is recruiting new staff to its Winchester office to work on the complex design, engineering and planning work for a new roof for the King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah.

The £44m-plus-turnover firm will design around 300,000 square metres of aluminium roofing for the airport’s new terminal building. The 18-month build programme will start towards the end of 2012.

Lakesmere is working with the Saudi Binladen Group, the largest construction organization in the country for the General Authority of Civil Aviation of Saudi Arabia.

The contract is the company’s largest international order to date and is the latest prestigious order to be secured by Lakesmere’s international division in the aviation and infrastructure sector.

It follows contract wins to complete a roofing package at a new airport in Salalah, Oman, roofing works on several new ancillary buildings at Muscat Airport and a roofing contract for a new Civilian Aviation Centre and Air Traffic Control centre in Oman.

Lakesmere International launched in Abu Dhabi in 2009 and has established further offices in Riyadh and Jeddah in Saudi Arabia in addition to premises in Muscat, Oman.

It is. Founded by Osama's father. Not to worry, though, Osama had little to do with his family, most of them disowned him ages ago because of his leanings.

I doubt they'd win any construction contracts. Can't even build a decent home for themselves...
