A FINAL call has been issued for entries to the prestigious South Coast business Awards as the deadline is extended by one week.

Businesses now have until May 8 to submit their nominations to one of the eight hotly-contested categories.

The awards, now in their second year, are being organised by the Daily Echo in association with Trethowans Solicitors and in partnership with Business Solent and Destination Southampton.

They aim to raise standards, spur on competition and champion the sterling contribution firms make to the local economy.

Awards will be handed out for best use of technology, customer service, commitment to education and training, growth and innovation. There are also categories for eco business of the year, best small business and Business Solent champion of the year. And all entries are nominated for the prestigious overall business of the year title.

A shortlist of four companies in each of the categories will be invited to a black-tie awards ceremony on July 6 at the De Vere Grand Harbour Hotel in Southampton.

Winners will be rewarded with high profile publicity along with industry recognition and a boost for staff motivation.

Banking giant Santander signed up to become an official judging partner, joining an impressive list of sponsors that include Trethowans, Taylor Made Computer Solutions, RSM Tenon, British American Tobacco and Smith & Williamson.
