A NEW route to Verona, the setting for Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, is the romantic lead of the summer line-up from Flybe, the biggest carrier at Southampton Airport.
The Italian city joins Avignon, Bordeaux, Brest, Dubrovnic, the Isle of Man, Limoges, Perpignon, Rennes, Split and Salzburg on the airline’s list of summer destinations.
Flybe will be running 730 flights a week throughout next summer at the airport.
Mike Rutter, Flybe’s chief commercial officer, said: “We’re delighted to be adding a brand new service to Italy from Southampton as well as an extensive selection of popular destinations for our loyal customers in the south of England.”
Jan Halliday, director of marketing and communications at Southampton Airport, said: “The announcement of these Flybe routes for summer is fantastic news for the region’s travellers. There are now 37 Flybe destinations on offer from Southampton travelling throughout the UK, Channel Islands and Europe.”
