V-Rod top choice for bike-fishers
THE Harley-Davidson VRSCAW V-Rod has been voted the most popular motorcycle in the UK according to a survey by fish4bikes.co.uk.
The report, based on more than 100,000 searches for motorcycles on the site so far this year, reveals that the iconic motorcycle has hit pole position. The VRSC (V-Twin Racing Street Custom) machine beat off stiff competition from the other motorcycle manufacturers' popular models.
Born from the first street-legal Harley-Davidson motorcycle to feature a liquid-cooled power plant, the V-Rod is a tyre-smoking celebration of drag racing heritage. Boasting a beefed-up 1,250cc liquid-cooled engine, the V-Rod is fast and mean, while looking sleek and clean with optional two-tone silver, charcoal-powdered engine and chrome covers.
Harley-Davidson dealerships throughout the UK offer additional parts and accessories for a completely personalised look to the V-Rod.
Harley-Davidson marketing manager Greg Willis says: "We are delighted that the VRSCAW V-Rod has been voted the most popular motorcycle in this survey.
"Not only does the V-Rod have extremely impressive specifications, but it has a distinctive eye-catching look to boot. With stylish models like this on offer, it's not surprising that the UK public's infatuation with Harley-Davidson continues."
The V-Rod's attraction as a recreational motorcycle is matched by its competitive capabilities. With a performance that stuns, VRSC motorcycles are right at home on the strip. Service manager at Oxford Harley-Davidson Chris Mott is the current Top Gas Champion with his V-Rod drag bike.
Chris, who earned the title from the National Association of Supertwins, has a current best time of 9.10 seconds over a quarter of a mile - believed to be the fastest in Europe.
Chris, who will be competing at the Shakespeare County Raceway in Stratford-Upon-Avon on May 3-5, says:"The V-Rod is a dream to race in the drag bike classes.
"Hopefully the motorcycle will prove its worth again when I compete at the Springspeed Nationals over the bank holiday period."
